At Rock Bottom T-Shirts, we’re all about saving you money on your clothing. However, we know that grocery costs make up a substantial amount of your household budget. So here are a few resources to help you save money at the check-out line.
Sites such as CouponMom.com (free) and The Grocery Game ($10 for eight weeks) offer weekly sales-tracking services for most states and major grocery chains. They’ll tell you which items are on sale and alert you to manufacturers’ coupons you can use.
Manufacturers’ coupons abound in most Sunday newspapers and also at such sites as Coupons.com, SmartSource.com and RedPlum. According to CouponMom’s Stephanie Nelson, serious “couponers” buy several Sunday newspapers or exchange coupons with frugal friends so they can buy multiples of their favorite items. According to Phil Lempert of Supermarket Guru, the average manufacturer’s coupon is now worth $1.20. Take 10 of those $1.20 coupons a week and multiply that over a year’s time and you could save up to $624!
Also look at signing up for your local grocery store’s member card. Most chains send out in-store coupons, offer additional discounts on sale items and may even have a website where you can download coupons directly to your grocery store member card. Check out Shortcuts.com for electronic and printable in store coupons.
These are just a few tips to take advantage of this coupon phenomenon. If you have a favorite coupon spot, let us know by posting a message here or on our Facebook page.
