A Quick T-Shirt Scarf to Brighten Up Winter

T-Shirt Into Scarf Craft

Turning a T-Shirt into a Scarf

Now that fall is getting cooler and winter soon approaches, it’s time to start focusing on fashionable but affordable ways to stay warm.  Fortunately, we’ve already got an answer for you.  This quick t-shirt craft is sure to get you plenty of compliments and will cost you next to nothing.  Not to mention that you can get this done in less than 30 minutes.

To complete this t-shirt craft all you need would be two things; a pair of scissors and a t-shirt.  We used our Women’s Short Sleeve T-Shirts and went with one in a winter color (turquoise) for this project.

Note: We’d recommend using a medium sized or larger t-shirt for this craft since the scarf needs to be able to wrap around your neck twice.

1) Cut the top part of the shirt off.  To do this just take your scissors and cut horizontally across the shirt just underneath the sleeves, all the way through.

2) Take the top of the shirt and set it to the side or store it away for later.  But don’t throw it away, because if you’re like me, you can always use the scraps for another project!

3) With the hem of the t-shirt at the top, cut 1/2″-1″ wide strips up the t-shirt, about three inches down from the hem.

4) When you’re done cutting all of your strips, gently tug at each strip to make the material curl.  The more you pull the more they will curl.

That’s it!  You now have a quick and cute scarf.  Put the scarf around your neck twice and you have a bright and cheery accessory.  These are so easy to make, you can even get your kids in on the fun.

Note: You can also use this process to make a child sized scarf, too.  To do it just use one of our childrens’ t-shirts and follow the same steps above.  It should be a perfect fit!
