When you’re trying to save money during the holidays, there are plenty of options to choose from. However, these bargains aren’t always easy to spot as there are several tricks involved in consistently finding above average deals for each major holiday. Finding the best holiday bargains begins with knowing all of the places that consistently offer huge holiday deals. Fortunately, you don’t have to figure this out on your own. Instead you can simply take advantage of the resources that are already available to you online since this will allow you to get a glimpse of the daily, weekly and other specials in one simple place.
So, what are these resources? They fall into several categories:
Holiday Edition of Your Local Newspaper
For example, you could find lots of great Black Friday deals in the Thanksgiving edition of your local newspaper. However, one thing to be aware of with these types of deals is that they’re often time sensitive. If you do plan on taking advantage of these specials be prepared to leave your home at odd hours and don’t forget to read the fine print!
Deal sites tend to fall into one of three categories.
- Coupon Sites – You can think of these websites as online directories-except instead of them being organized by business location or contact information, they’re organized by coupons. A great example would be a site such as RetailMeNot.com.
- Group Buying Sites – This segment of websites would include sites such as Groupon.com. These sites are selling you a local business’s discounted gift certificates, which the deal site often refers to simply as “deals”.
- Revenue Sharing Sites – Revenue sharing sites are independent affiliates who earn a commission off any product that you buy using their link. The twist is that the revenue sharing site splits a percentage of their commissions with the consumers who purchase through their websites. SwagBucks.com is a perfect example of a revenue sharing website.
Comparison Shopping Websites
In addition to what we’ve mentioned above you should look for price comparison sites, as well, because they ensure that you’re getting the best prices every single time. The nice thing about comparison shopping sites is that they offer side by side comparison tables that allow you to compare product features, as well as product and shipping costs.
At the end of the day it’s all about knowing where to look. However, you’ll usually find much better resources if you start the process sooner rather than later.
